Estcourt Senior Citizens Club caps off 2017

Snacks, sweet treats, a scrumptious lunch and dessert were served at the final weekly meeting for 2017

The Estcourt Senior Citizens Club members gathered at the Forderville Primary School Hall for their last meeting of the year last Wednesday. The club will reopen in February 2018.

Continuing the commemoration of Diabetes Awareness Month, Medical Hall together with Ethembeni Pharmacy staff conducted blood sugar testing and blood pressure screening.

Lin Shaw has her blood pressure levels examined by Sister Mazibuko.

Club Chairperson Mrs Nandan awarded four members for excellent attendance at the weekly meetings. The members took a trip down memory lane with a golden oldie song guessing game. They had plenty of fun and this was evident with the tapping of feet and clapping as they correctly guessed the songs. A game of musical ‘exercise chairs’ was played, guided by Physiotherapist Selochana Naidoo.

The elderly put a twist on musical chairs and introduced exercise.

Estcourt Senior Citizens Club members who celebrated their birthdays during September, October, November and December got to cut a birthday cake, while the rest of the members sang happy birthday to them.

Mrs RD Peerbhay thanked the pharmacy team for coming at such short notice. “It is much appreciated, as many members do not get themselves screened for over four to five months, which can be dangerous,” she said.
