Mining industry wishes for a safer 2018

Derek Cooper, regional SACMA chairman, welcomed everyone to the meeting and his main wish was for a safe mining environment in 2018.

The mining industry is looking forward to a safe year. This was said in the Southern Region of the Colliery Managers’ Association, SACMA, and SA Colliery Engineers Association’s annual general meeting held recently at Talana Museum.
Derek Cooper, regional SACMA chairman, welcomed everyone to the meeting and his main wish was for a safe mining environment in 2018.
A presentation by Robert Grobler proved to be very interesting and of course, the meeting ended with the “Famous Oxtail” lunch served by Jenny Ross at Miner’s Rest.
The 2018 Regional Committee comprises: Derek Cooper – Chairman, Van Reenen (Boetie) Jewaskiewitz – Vice Chairman, Paul Redelinghuys – SACEA Representative, Helen Van Emmerik – Regional Secretary, Kobus Van Jaarsveld – Mine Rescues Services (MRS) Liaison, Robert Grobler Collieries Training College (CTC) Liaison and Bob Bentley – Talana Museum Board of Trustee Representative.
