The fresh-faced prefects for 2018 had an extra spring in their steps last Friday and were buzzing with excitement for their prefect camp held at the beautiful Tugela Mouth, which took place from January 26-28.
The 24 prefects that were elected at the end of last year had wondered throughout the holiday what their camp had in store for them.
A jam-packed itinerary was presented to them which listed just how busy their “weekend getaway” was going to be. From raft building contests to problem-solving, pyjamas on the beach, pool parties, hiking and much more, the prefect group had a chance to bond and strengthen friendships, as well as make new ones which are vital to the essential role that they play in the school.
At the end of the camp, the prefects each signed a GPS Prefect Code of Conduct for 2018, to ensure that they maintain their high standards in the classrooms, on the sports fields and in their character, all to clarify the importance of their “jobs” at school.
