Lasec’s Grade 10s learn about the hospitality business

They were taken on a tour of the hotel, where they were taught the technical skills associated with table settings, housekeeping, the booking of accommodation, and correct reception etiquette

The Grade 10s at Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) who are studying Consumer Studies were treated to an excursion to the Royal Hotel on Saturday.

During this informative trip, the learners had the opportunity to delve into the world of hospitality.

They were taken on a tour of the hotel, where they were taught the technical skills associated with table settings, housekeeping, the booking of accommodation, and correct reception etiquette.

They were given a brief history of the hotel itself, which was followed by a question and answer session, thereby adding to the educational value of the trip.

The Grade 10s were then treated to a delicious lunch consisting of a beef burger, chips and a soothing soft drink at the hotel’s famous Tipsy Trooper. To end their meal, a generous serving of dessert was enjoyed by all.

To end off the day, the learners were taken to the Town Pool, where lots of fun and excitement filled the air.

A special thanks goes out to Mr Richard Lee and his wife Ann, Mr AN Govender and Mr Mlambo for assisting and ensuring a successful trip.
