Welcome back to members, Dougie, Nan, Greg and Des who participated in the Inter Districts Competition at various venues around the country. It was a tough week with a total of 9 games of 21 ends played throughout the week against the crème de la crème of bowlers in South Africa. The men’s senior KZNCB side, where Dougie featured, ended in eighth place in their section. The men’s B KZNCB side, where Greg and Des featured, ended fourth place in their section. The ladies A KZNCB side, where Nan featured, ended sixth in their section. Congratulations to the four of them for being selected to play for their respective sides and for representing the district.
FedAuto Business League
Thankfully the weather was perfect for rounds 8 and 9 of the FedAuto Business League that was played last Thursday. Once again a great evening was had by all with some great bowls played. Merry Men had a great evening and have now jumped from fifth place to second, certainly a team to look out for. The leaderboard after rounds 8 and 9 as follows: Langfontein 14 +37; Merry Men 14 +17; Sarel Cilliers 12 +19; No Name Brand 12 +14.
Once again the club will not be selling food this Thursday, so please bring your basket, family and friends down to the club to enjoy a braai and fellowship after play.
Upcoming events: March 24-25 – u/15 and u/20 practice in Newcastle; April 7 – Club Social Day; April 14-15 – KZNCB Senior Fours in Dundee; April 21 and 28 – Club Senior Singles.
