The Vryheid Bowling Club Floating Trophy is no ordinary trophy.
There is a very unique and captivating history behind this memorable keepsake which was recently introduced at the club.
Made by one of Vryheid Bowling Club’s bowlers from a mahogany wood beam picked up on the rocks at the Cape of Good Hope National Park, the floating trophy, ironically enough, is presumed to be part of a ship that sank.
This is evident from the holes and wooden pins through the holes in the wood beam.
