NEWCASTLE – Heavy rain has reportedly led to the Ncandu River along Finnemore Street in Paradise, bursting its banks.

Information received from various members of the community, as well as emergency WhatsApp groups, confirmed several areas around Newcastle have already been flooded.
These include, but are not limited to, the Amcor Dam bridge, the corner of Bird and Finnemore Streets, and the Paradise C Grounds.
A Paradise resident reported hearing the flood warning sirens go off only minutes ago. Mark and Seshne Jacobs, of Two Eagles Security in Paradise, are currently on hand to help residents prepare for possible evacuation.
Traffic officers were also said to be available to provide assistance to those who needed it. Disaster Management teams are also on their way to assist.
Residents are urged to practice extreme caution today, as currents could be stronger than they appear.
