Policewoman takes on pageant
Sandra Sibeko didn’t enter the pageant for herself only, but also for other women

People talk of internal and external beauty, and Sandra Sibeko exudes both.
Sandra is both a Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa pageant semi-finalist and a policewoman who has always loved her job.
“I love helping the community and my line of work allows me to do that.”
Sandra helps wherever she goes, with a smile that just puts you at ease.
She came to Ladysmith in 2010 and was an officer in the Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. Among other things, the FCS Unit deals with gender-based violence, domestic abuse and child abuse.
She found this is where her passion lay.
In January 2011, she left to work in Johannesburg for the PAN Parliament in the ‘Protection and security for ministers’. In October of 2011, she moved to Winterton to work at the Community Service Centre (CSC).
She still gets calls from people who ask for advice and many still thank her for helping them.
Sandra has been married for 10 years and has two beautiful children, Luyanda (11) and Unathi (7).
Sandra’s pageant story started in 2014. “I had severe depression and it felt like nothing was working. I had forgotten who I was and with looking after my family and them being my focus, I had forgotten about myself.”
She didn’t enter the pageant for herself only, but also for other women. “I wanted to motivate other women… And remind them that before they had a husband and family, they had goals and dreams for themselves. They shouldn’t have to give up any of that; they can still achieve their dreams and goals.”
The other contestants in the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa have helped her feel empowered.
“I was nervous and not confident at all on the first day. The other women helped empower me and slowly helped me feel more confident.”
Throughout her journey, she has received a lot of support from numerous communities.
“Thank you to the community, my family, friends and everyone who supports me. I didn’t realise people would be this supportive.”
