Overgrown grass at intersection of Delhi Road and Kandahar Avenue a hideout for criminals

Members of the Community Policing Forum, who regularly patrol the area, say that the matter is way worse than it looks

The intersection of Delhi Road and Kandahar Avenue is one of the busiest in town during peak-hour traffic.

Being such a busy intersection, you would think that the side of the road would be kept in tip-top condition, yet this is not the case.

On the one side of the intersection, the grass and shrubs are over two metres in height, with residents and motorists feeling that the municipality is not willing to help by solving the problem.

Speaking to members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) who regularly patrol the area, they say that the matter is way worse than it looks.

The members say that the dense bush in the nearby ‘donga’ next to the road serves as a hideout for criminals, as many suspects they have chased have run into the grass and escaped in that way.

They added that there have been numerous break-ins in the area.

One person even said there are people living in the bushy ‘donga’ and something needs to be done about it, as everyone pays rates and taxes so that things like this can be taken care of.
