Parents protest conditions at Dundee Junior Secondary

''Appalling conditions strip away the dignity of teachers and learners'

Parents are this morning protesting outside Dundee Junior Secondary School on Oldacre Street over what they say are squalid conditions at the school.

Parents and teachers have long complained about the toilets that are ‘in an appalling state’, holes in the ceiling and other conditions ‘that take away the dignity of teachers and learners’.

There have been meetings with the Endumeni Civic Association and parents and teachers in a bid to remedy the situation.

“We are obliged to restore dignity of our teachers , workers and students as per section 10 of the country’s constitution.

The department of education must account and sponsor an immediate remedy to the community our cry,” said Mzwakhe Sithebe of the ECA.
