PREVIEW: Municipality responds to lack of service delivery in Fairleigh

According to officials, the repairs of the houses on David Street in Fairleigh was an ongoing process.

Following a two and a half year battle regarding the alleged lack of service delivery in Fairleigh, the Newcastle Municipality has finally provided an official response.

According to officials, the repairs of the houses on David Street in Fairleigh was an ongoing process.

“The project started with the first houses being 28 and 24 David Street. This included the underpinning on six sides of the dwellings, internal and external painting and minor repairs.”

During the previous financial year (2016 to 2017), 16 and 20 David Street were repaired.

This, too, is said to have included internal and external painting, as well as minor renovations.

Thereafter, 2 David Street received internal and external painting.

“In this financial year (2017 to 2018) house numbers 4, 8, 10 and 12 David Street were repaired, which included external and internal painting and minor repairs.”
