DJs will wage musical warfare at the Ladysmith Show

We have brought something different to the Ladysmith Show this year by focusing on our local DJs. They will be behind their turntables, battling it out in the ‘Battle Of The DJs’ competition.

Meet Ladysmith’s top DJs:

Makhosonke Goodwill Hlatshwayo (born October 10, 1983) is better known by his stage name ‘DJ Mac’. He began his career around 2010. DJ Mac had his big break shortly after being given a chance to play at the annual Nyus’i-Volume event. He is currently a resident DJ at Sotshikazi Lifestyle in Steadville and Entabeni Lounge.

Mlondi Mntambo, better known as MlondyDaDj, was born and raised in Ladysmith. He completed his high school career at Klipriver High. He believes that music is art and has great love for music. He started DJ’ing after being trained by a professional DJ from Limpopo, Francis Seretlo, in 2011.

Through his tutorials, MlondyDaDj has gained knowledge and confidence and has performed in almost every club or function in Ladysmith and surrounding areas. He has previously competed in the Red Square DJ Knock-Out Challenge, held at Sontshikazi Lifestyle, with the likes of Jmt, DJ Zinyo, Mac and DJ Nastor. “I’m an outgoing person and very sociable, and that’s where I get to network with people to promote myself,” he says.

Simphiwe Mncube, also known as DJ Cracker, was born in Ladysmith. Having started DJ’ing in 2012, he is the resident DJ at Mixit Jazz Club. He is based in Durban. Simphiwe has played in many clubs such as Havanas Cafe, 031 Shisanyama and Swazi Lounge, all in Durban.

Wayne Groening (born April 9, 1993) is better known by his stage name ‘DJ Wayne’. He began his career around 2010 as a club DJ at a very young age. DJ Wayne had his big break after playing at the annual Nyus’i-Volume event in 2016 and is currently a resident DJ at Chapter’s Lounge.
