Ladysmith mayor joins protest against illegal foreigners

A heavy police presence kept an eye on proceedings to make sure things did not get out of hand.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Ladysmith today (June 2) for a massive ‘March and March Until We Win’ protest, calling for action against illegal immigrants in town.

Mayor joins demonstration

Alfred Duma Mayor Zama Sibisi joined the march. The protest, which had the support of Alfred Duma Local Municipality, started in Illing Road before moving through the CBD into Murchison Street.

Growing crowd and heavy police presence

The demonstration gained momentum as more and more people joined along the route, turning it into a significant public gathering. Police maintained a strong presence throughout to ensure public safety and prevent disruptions.

Concerns raised

The protesters said they want the authorities to urgently address concerns surrounding the presence of undocumented foreign nationals in the area.
