Stratford farm residents close road after child is killed
Police reacted and back up was called for from Newcastle's POP Unit and a private security company, Nembile.

There was more drama on the Helpemekaar road late yesterday after a child was run over and killed.
The angry community of the Stratford area, also known as KwaSithole, protested and burnt tyres to close the road and demand that the authorities install more speed bumps.

Rubber bullets were used to disperse the crowd. Several arrests were made. The road remained closed and several people living on that road had to sleep over in Dundee.

The road was still closed this morning and police were on stand by. It is not yet clear if the driver of the bakkie that struck the child was charged.
