Snake found outside Ladysmith home at the start of winter

Residents saw the snake just outside their home in a drain outlet

A snake was found last night (May 28) at a house in Cochrane Road.

Residents saw the snake just outside their home in a drain outlet.

They quickly contacted Fanie Cilliers, who responded to the scene.

The residents kept a watchful eye on the “unwelcome guest” so that Fanie could easily find and remove it from the premises.

The snake had not moved when Fanie arrived, so it was safely caught without any harm to anyone.

It was identified as a Brown House Snake.

It is unusual to find snakes out and about at this time of year, when winter is practically upon us. The reason for snakes being active now is that they like to bake in the sun during the day.
