For years Johan was known as the friendly face who kept the Boeremark up and running, and in the process he cemented himself in the hearts and minds of the people of Newcastle.
Johan, who passed away on May 5, will be remembered and missed by not only his loved ones, but by the thousands of Newcastillians who had the pleasure of meeting him, and his legacy of love and caring for those in need will live on for years.
