Members of both groups, caregivers and survivors, met with a common purpose…to share, motivate and inspire. The meeting began with an inspirational presentation, which spoke of approval, connection, comfort, encouragement, among others, when trying to change a person’s perception of hope.

Shailen from the ARK Support Group and Ramika Peerbhay from the Cancer Support Group thereafter discussed the idea of merging during meetings, saying that Estcourt was a small community and we all need to help each other.

Following feedback from the members, this arrangement will be organised. Thereafter, Glow TV Mrs India SA finalist Jessica Sewraj introduced herself to members, explained about the pageant she is entering and gave a message of hope.

“I know that life is difficult and it always throws us challenges but I believe despite this, we must believe in God and have hope through prayer,” she said.

Thereafter she handed out gifts to everyone present. The meeting continued with a testimony from a stroke survivor who also encouraged all present to ‘apply their faith’ when dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

“The doctors told me that I won’t walk or speak but I am standing here today because God is in charge of us all,” he said.
