Rocks placed on road ahead of expected march today

A blockade of tyres is being set up on Fouche Street, say residents

Rocks, pieces of glass and branches have been placed on Argyle Street, near the intersection with Union Street, at the Ngisane entrance to Dundee.

The blockage started at around 4am this morning. The route is on the coal truck route from Magdalena Colliery to the coal washing plant at old Talana.

There is also a reported blockage on Fouche Street , complete with tyres.

At about 7am, the obstacles were still in the road but there was no sign of any protesters. Other entrances to town were said to be open but roads in Sibongile were also blocked by rocks and other obstacles.

A march highlighting grievances with the Council and the farm issue over Farm Doctor, outside Dundee, is expected today in Dundee.
