Despite the initial efforts of the vet to treat the dog, it had to be rushed back for treatment as infection set in a few days later. According to Gero, the dog was in extreme pain.

“He had to be sedated for the vet to shave his fur and see what was happening underneath.”

With the puppy suffering from trauma and blistered skin, officials said they were heartbroken.

Despite the shock of the abuse, the puppy will not be returned to its owner and is making a remarkable recovery under the care of the SPCA. He is still on antibiotics and painkillers.

Gero expressed her anger at the incident, and said no matter the circumstances, no one had the right to abuse an animal. She confirmed a case would be opened against the landlord.

“This matter will be taken to court.”
