Victims assaulted in Glencoe armed robbery

They were tied up and beaten

Glencoe Police are on the hunt for three men who severely assaulted a tavern owner and his assistant on Sunday evening during an armed robbery.

The Bingelela Tavern on Karelandman Street had closed and the owner was cashing up at about 8pm.  When he went outside to go to this vehicle,  he noticed one of his patrons bleeding. Upon asking what was wrong, he was threatened by another man who pointed a firearm at him.

He was pushed back inside the Tavern and two other men came in, tied up the owner and his two assistants and began to assault the owner and one of his assistants. They took cash, a firearm, alcohol and the CCTV equipment.

By that stage someone had alerted the police and when one of the robbers emerged from the Tavern carrying bottles of alcohol, he was confronted by a policeman. The robber dropped what he was carrying and he and his two accomplices fled.

An investigation is continuing.
