ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) held fun-filled family days at its Newcastle Works from June 25 to 29.
Manager of Socio-Economic Development and Transformation, Joe Nowbath said that during this period, employees were permitted to bring their families to the workplace.
“This was to create a better understanding of their loved ones, as to what the day held when they left home at sunrise and returned at sunset.”
Nowbath said significant planning went into the family days, which had created an air of immense excitement among AMSA employees.

“The days also create an appreciation for the work done by the respective family member, and goes a long way in improving family relations.”
Family members were amazed at the scope of the works’ operations, after which they were presented with hampers to round off a truly eye-opening occasion.
“ArcelorMittal considers caring as one of its core values, and it is through interventions like these that we embrace these values,” concluded Nowbath.
