Mother not receiving her full Sassa child support money in Ladysmith

She has gone to the Sassa offices on numerous occasions and they evidently promised her each time that she would receive the full amount the following month

Thousands of pensioners have recently complained that they have not been able to withdraw their money (using their new cards) at designated pay points around town. Many of them were turned away because Sassa officials say there are glitches in the system.

A 29-year-old mother (who pleaded with the Ladysmith Gazette not to mention her name) says that from the beginning of this year, she has not been receiving the full child support amount for her children.

She has gone to the Sassa offices on numerous occasions and they evidently promised her each time that she would receive the full amount the following month. However, the same thing has been happening again and again.

“It is extremely difficult with four children and not getting the full amount, as the cost of living is already so high,” laments the worried mother.

Pensioners in Ladysmith say they are still trying to get their money, which is the only income they have.
