Estcourt Christian Academy’s Khumi brings home a gold

Khumi won a gold medal for Scripture Memorisation (memorising the entire book of Proverbs) and a bronze for long jump

Khumisho Mamaru, a grade 12 learner at Estcourt Christian Academy, has recently returned from a very successful trip to the United States of America (USA) where he represented Africa at the International Student Convention (ISC) for Christian Schools at Ball State University, Munsie, Indiana.

He was part of a group of 25 learners from all over South Africa and Zimbabwe. Over 1 500 learners from around the world attend this week-long event.

The competition is comprised of many different disciplines including sports, academics, drama, arts and music, allowing the students to compete in a sort of a “Mini Olympics.”

Khumi won a gold medal for Scripture Memorisation (memorising the entire book of Proverbs) and a bronze for long jump. Pastors Jon and Tracy Kühn of the Midlands Christian Centre were once again afforded the opportunity to head up the ISC tour in the USA.

During their time in America, they toured New York City, Washington DC and then completed the trip with a visit to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Well done, Khumi, for representing Estcourt Christian Academy at the ISC and for putting Estcourt on the world stage.
