After an early supper on a Friday evening, all 25 grade eight boys set off with Messrs Brooks, Cato and Zikhali to participate in a tailor-made version of the Passed Thru Fire programme to prepare them to lead the school in 2019.

The rest of the school set off on their Outward Bound weekend, which had been postponed earlier in the year owing to inclement weather. The grade fours and fives made their way to Grindstone Cave for the first night and to Weenen Game Reserve for the second night.
The grade six learners hiked to the Lower Injisuthi Cave while the grade sevens footed it to Zulu Cave. For the grade nines, this is a very special occasion – their last Outward Bound expedition as Drakies.

Accompanied by fifteen fathers, one brother and several members of staff, they were on their way to the summit of Champagne Castle.
