Delightful Berg Show in Winterton draws in the crowd

As the sun set, local and national performers took to the stage, finishing off with a show-stopping appearance by Matthew Mole

The annual Berg Show was an enormous success again this year, with thousands of visitors from all over the province making their way to the Winterton Country Club.

The two-day agricultural show kicked off on Friday with a 5km glow run in conjunction with Winterton Primary School.

Later on, there were performances by Vis & Chips and afterwards Touch of Class. It was Saturday that the true magic started happening. As the mist started rising, the show grounds came to life with a Miss and Mr Berg Show, an entertaining game of touch rugby, various horse riding activities and even a display by the Okhahlamba (Bergville) Municipality fire department.

Touch rugby was won by Team Steam.

As the sun set, local and national performers took to the stage, finishing off with a show-stopping appearance by Matthew Mole.

The show offered shoppers a range of possibilities from homemade arts and crafts to toys and leather goods to unique handmade clothes.

The food court area was filled with options, including trusty favourites like pizza, prego rolls, and fish and chips.

There was also a unique treat called ‘kaas varkies’, which was a combination of bacon and cheese. The agricultural exhibitors offered show-goers an up-close-and-personal view of their extraordinary farming equipment, with representatives ready to offer their knowledge on these massive machines.

Jacques Coetzee, Alinda Spencer and Christo Bredenhann supported the Berg Show.

As a very first for the show, various tourism offices from the area shared a tent where they took the opportunity to promote their towns. It was a spectacular event! If you missed it this year, make sure you catch it in 2019!
