The past 3 weeks, saw the Ichthus Grade 1 and 2 learners battling it out on the mini-cricket pitch during the annual Ichthus Mini-Cricket Fun Tournament. The enthusiastic mini-cricketers made up four teams, namely the Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Bulls.
Many runs were run and wickets taken, but one thing is for sure, every child that participated during this fun tournament ended their over with a huge smile on his or her face! The Sharks took on the Bulls in a nail-biting final last week, with the Sharks winning the tournament by a close 5 runs. In doing so, they secured the sought-after trophy and prize of a chocolate bar.
Congratulations to the Sharks team on their win. The team was made up of Shamarie Snyman, Anebelle Myburgh, Wyatt Caldecott, Reuel Laloo, Sibanisethu Mazibuko, Izibongo Phakathi, Simphiwe Ncube, Uminathi Mchunu and Leon Williams. Prizes were awarded to the learners in the following categories: Girl who took the most wickets in the tournament: Siyathokoza Hadebe and Caitlyn Rotol – 3 wickets; Boy who took the most wickets in the tournament: Wyatt Caldecott – 5 wickets; Girl who made the most runs in the tournament: Mbali Chonco and Akhona Mhlungu – 22 runs; Boy who made the most runs in the tournament: Reuel Laloo – 36 runs. Well done to all the mini-cricket players who participated in this Fun Tournament, you are all winners!
