Pedestrian ‘virtually cut in half’ in truck accident
"The driver said he simply did not see the pedestrian" - witness

A man who was walking on the sidewalk was virtually cut in two this morning when a truck went out of control on the corner of Victoria and Browning Street.
A motorist, who was travelling down Browning Street with his baby and a friend’s daughter in the car, described his horror as he saw the truck seemingly spin out of control, nearly hit his car and then go over the pavement.
“The truck driver simply carried on driving up Browning Street. It was a horrible sight to see that poor pedestrian lying at the side of the road with his intestines hanging out.” The motorist said he pulled over and ran up Browning Street in a bid to stop the truck driver.
“Fortunately, it is an up hill and the truck was travelling slowly. I was able to catch up to him and asked him if he had seen that he had run over a man. He claimed not to have seen anything.” Policed and the EMRS were soon on the scene and the badly injured man taken to hospital.
The driver could be facing various charges.
