Pre-trial date set for conspiracy to commit trio
Councillor Majola and Mr Mbatha expressed their joy over the pre-trial date and that it will be heard at the Estcourt Regional Court
December 3 is D-Day for former Endumeni Mayor, Richard Mbatha, and his two co-accused who are charged with conspiracy to murder Endumeni Council Speaker, Bongiwe Mbatha, who has also been axed by the IFP.
Mr Mbatha, Estcourt IFP Councillor, Mthembeni Majola and alleged hit man, Xolani Makhathini briefly appeared in the Estcourt Regional Court this morning.
State Prosecutor Mr Mata got straight to the business of the day when he announced the pre-trial date of December 3.
“My colleagues are busy making copies of the docket in the copier room. The docket is not lengthy and soon you will have your diamond. The case is adjourned for pre-trail,” told Mr Mata.
The defence had previously complained that the State docket against them had not been made available.

Magistrate Goosen asked Advocate Kay Augustine and Advocate Mlotshwa if there was anything they would like to place on record.
Advocate Mlotshwa had nothing to place on record while Advocate Augustine commente:, “We have been digging very hard for this diamond (the docket).”
The accused were asked to rise and Magistrate Goosen announced to them that their case has been postponed for pre-trial on December 3.
She warned them to be back in court on the set date.
