Cash heist between Vyheid and Newcastle – chase on in bid to bring gunmen to book
This is the third cash heist incident in nine weeks in the area
Reports are coming in of another cash in transit heist with at least one gunman shot and a vehicle burnt out on the Newcastle/Vryheid road this evening.
It was said at least three vehicles were involved in the ambush of the G4S van. Police are currently in pursuit of either a Ford Focus or a BMWt travelling in the direction of Piet Retief. It is understood police are still on the scene which is considered to be ‘active’.
The latest heist follows similar heists on the Nquthu and Pomeroy roads.
It was also said that a BMW with five occupants was involved in armed robbery at Capitec Bank in Ficksburg this morning while unconfirmed reports said that a similar model vehicle with five or six occupants was found travelling in the Smith Street (Dundee) area this morning,
