On Wednesday, October 24 eight Grade 7 learners enjoyed a day trip to the Drakensberg Mountains, accompanied by Mrs Dowling and Mrs Viljoen.
The first stop was in Ladysmith, where everyone was treated to something sweet, something savoury and something to drink. Mrs Dowling received the prize for choosing the most healthy combination!
At the Winterton Museum, situated in mid-town, the group admired Admiral Weston’s entrepreneurial skills; a wooden car-combo-caravan with which the family travelled around Africa. The weather was extremely hot on Wednesday and many bottles of water were consumed.
The hot weather also included the birds of prey show at Falcon Ridge. Incredible! Everyone was in awe.
Next on the trip was a hike in the Fern Forest, where the trees at least protected the group from the scorching sun.
A lunch at Valley Bakery provided lovely quiches and juice and a special treat from the owner, Mrs Solms. The performance by the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir was such a delight…absolutely inspired by the beautiful music and the lovely scenery of the mountains, the group travelled back, where a quick supper was enjoyed in Ladysmith. With enough apples and plenty of cold water provided throughout the day, the learners and teachers arrived home safely, thanking God for His protection and provision.
