Sarel Cilliers High host successful Father and Son cricket Day

It was Dundee Junior's first cricket team who formed the Sons team with available dads and educators from Dundee Junior who formed the Dads team.

Sarel principal, Kevin van Staden, generously offered the cricket field and Lion’s Den for the highly anticipated game of Fathers vs Sons which took place on Friday.
It was Dundee Junior’s first cricket team who formed the Sons team with available dads and educators from Dundee Junior who formed the Dads team. The Sons were put in to bat first and scored 109 runs in the allotted 20 overs with Hannes and Micheal being the top scorers. Taashlin and Timothy blazed away to score 21 runs off the last 2 overs to produce a competitive score. The pick of the bowlers for the Dads were Isak and Mr. Maré.
The Dads then responded and narrowly lost by 8 runs to a gutsy Sons team despite some aggressive batting from Christiaan Gunter and Mr Herbst, the latter striking 2 gigantic sixes, one which flew over Lion’s Den. Spirited bowling performances came from the likes of Ethan and Hanro for the Sons team.
A special word of thanks goes to the hardworking Wilfred Bierbaum for sorting out all arrangements and securing sponsors for drinks, Ice Lollies and meat for the Braai from Ismail’s Trading Store, Martin Maritz, Elmo van Zyl and Best Drive Tyres2Go and Best Drive Molly’s. Everyone got together at the conclusion of the match to have a delicious braai and socialised into the night.
Action Cricket
On Friday night the Sarel Cilliers action cricket team played against a strong team called Peacevale Hot Ice. The Sarel Cilliers team narrowly lost in the final skins and fought bravely until the final delivery.
Zandre and Ruan excelled with the bat scoring overs and Zandre was the pick of the bowlers.
On Friday night in the mixed pairs action cricket, Ruan and Andiswa were the pick of the bowlers while all batting pairs gave off their best and gained tons of experience. Looking forward to the next match eagerly.
