The Gift of the Givers Foundation and the National Muslim Women’s Forum are calling on people to make a difference and help save lives in Yemen.
They have launched the 1 Man, 1 Can project, aimed at collecting canned food for the people of Yemen.
According to the Gift of the Givers team inside Yemen, thousands of residents are surviving on just leaves and plants.
More than 10 000 children are critically malnourished and are in need of urgent assistance.
In October this year, the United Nations warned that 13 million people face starvation in what could be “the worst famine in the world in 100 years.”
This month, a report by Save the Children estimated that 85,000 children under the age of five have already died from starvation.
A drop off point for canned food has been set up at the OK Foods in Dannhauser and the cut off date for donations is December 7.
