After having transferred to the Ladysmith Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, Constable Miya obtained a Degree in Psychology and started to investigate the rape case.

Although the crime scene had been totally destroyed, the police officer worked diligently and with her assistance the distraught victim built her confidence.

“The victim was the crown witness who gave excellent testimony against her perpetrator. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment, he was found unfit to possess a firearm and his name is to be added in the register of sexual offenders. He was also found unfit to work with children in the future,” said Captain Nyathi.
