Tears, yawns and vacant stares intermingled with sounds of laughter and joy as Egerton, Monument, ML Sultan, Aloe Park, the Islamic Educational Centre, Acaciavale, Hamilton and other primary schools all welcomed new pupils into the fold.
Teachers were seen consoling the unhappy children on their first day, as they cried and begged to go back to their mummies – while other children smiled and made new friends.
