Breakthrough against firearm thieves

Farmers in the area had been put on high alert following the burglaries

A spate of burglaries on farms in the area where firearms were targeted, lead to an intensive joint operation which resulted in the arrest of two men and the recovery of 10 firearms.
Farmers in the area had been put on high alert following the burglaries – three of which were reported in December in the Wasbank, Dundee and Glencoe districts.
Backed up by Magma Investigations, Ladysmith police made the arrests and recovered the firearms, ammunition, television sets and other goods stolen during the break-ins. Between them, the two men have been linked to eight cases – one dating back to 2017.

Nzomuhle Vungazile Thungo and Simo Khumbulani Mabaso have appeared in Court in connection with the cases and the investigations are ongoing.
