The Drakensberg Boys Choir School, just outside of Winterton, recently welcomed 27 new boys from Grade 4 to 8.
The boys settled into their boarding hostels and embarked upon orientation, both on the school campus and off-campus, in the form of a tour and swims / hiking in the nearby surrounds.
The boys also met their Grade 9 mentors, tutors and academic / music staff for the year; and performed three items at an assembly for the parents. The weekend culminated in a braai for the new families.
The new recruits will go through 30 in-depth and challenging tests in order to achieve ‘Concert’ status and then will perform in the weekly Wednesday concerts, as well as other performances.
