The idea stemmed from Grade Seven learners who wanted to create a tradition of ringing a bell, before saying farewell to their formative years in primary school.

Prem Bhagwandas, the circuit manager at the Department of Education officiated at the ribbon cutting ceremony, along with principal Pieter Hanekom.

“For the learners of Drakies, they will forever be a part of their primary school. Whenever the bell is rung, it will echo the laughter and love in the school.”
