DHS super athletes prove themselves at Umzinyathi trials

On Saturday, February 9, the DHS fishing team travelled to Verdruk dam to enjoy a day of fishing

DHS is proud to announce that the following learners were selected to form part of the Umzinyathi team which will take part in the KZN championships in Durban on February 22-23: Joyce Cibyayi u/15 high jump, long jump, javelin; Isak Muller u/15 shot put; Lusanda Kheshwa u/17 javelin; Asanda Thungo u/17 long jump, 200m and 100m; Andiswa Zama u/17 u/17 shot put; Sinakhokhonke Zulu u/17 shot put; Nqubeko Mngomezulu u/19 high Jump; Siphesihle Sikhakhane u/19 100m; Jan-Frederik van Zyl u/19 shot put.

DHS fishing at Verdruk dam
On Saturday, February 9, the DHS fishing team travelled to Verdruk dam to enjoy a day of fishing. They had a very successful day with Mrs Swart catching the most fish out of them all!
Well done to Huzaifa Mahomed for catching the biggest fish (a 2.5kg carp) and Leolen Nair for catching the most fish out of all the boys present. The day ended on a good note with eighteen fish being caught in total. They are looking forward to their next fishing expedition in March at Mahawane Dam near Volksrust.

The following learners received colours for their outstanding overall academic averages for 2018
Grade 8: Half Colours – Yusrah Khader (89%), Sinethemba Hlongwane (84%), Lethu Gule (83%), Sinothando Duma (80%), Shreeya Sundar (80%).
Grade 9: Honours – Eric Lauwrens (90%). Full Colours: Chirag Singh (88%), Zakiya Khan (86%), Amahle Nkosi (86%), Sphesihle Maphalala (85%), Cameron Meintjes (85%), Miguelle Benadie (85%).
Grade 10: Full Colours – Stefan Thom (84%), Asande Masala (82%), Zethembe Nxumalo (80%), Arish Balgobind (80%).
Grade 11: Honours – Ayaz Bhula (88%). Full Colours: Monique Arends (84%), Nadia Raffenberg (83%), Sisanda Thango (83%).

Please support these young hockey players who are working hard to lower their tour costs. They will also be waitressing at Spur on Tuesday, February 26, and March 5. Come and enjoy a delicious meal and support the teams.
