Food for Life team officially launches Estcourt branch

The Food for Life team worked hard to ensure all the Festival of Chariots attendees enjoyed a hearty meal

When the colourful Festival of Chariots graced Estcourt on March 16, Iskcon Estcourt devotees were hard at work ensuring that everyone attended was comfortable and well-fed.

The Food for Life team was tasked with preparing a sumptuous vegetarian lunch and at the same time, the organisation officially launched this wing.

Food for Life is one of the biggest feeding operations in South Africa and provides thousands of meals to South Africans daily.

In Estcourt, the dedicated team is always on the go, serving up hot meals to communities in need. Meal preparation for the Festival of Chariots was a mammoth task and began the day before.

Devotees gathered to cook 10 decks of breyani, one deck feeds about 250 people, two decks of dhall and one deck of soji (dessert).

Hundreds of people were served a delicious meal at the Festival of Chariots.

Their aim was to ensure that everyone who attended or even passed by, enjoyed a meal. On Saturday, the members set up inside the Estcourt Town Hall and were ready to serve the hundreds of locals.
