Cogta appointed administrator answers Vryheiders’ burning questions

Mandla Nkosi discussed service delivery concerns that have been burning questions in the minds of community members for some time for this week's edition of the Vryheid Herald.

IN a lengthy, in-depth interview with the Vryheid Herald, Cogta appointed administrator, Mandla Nkosi, discussed service delivery concerns that have been burning questions in the minds of community members for some time.
He began with an explanation as to how the municipality deals with complaints.

“We have established an Interim Finance Committee. This committee constitutes of all the heads of the departments (HOD’s), and some managers who report to the HOD’s,” explained Mr Nkosi.

“Requests and complaints from the community are tabled at committee meetings. This is where we take decisions. The committee then devises an action plan that must be followed through by the relevant department. We prefer to receive complaints in writing as this makes it easier to present before the committee.”

See pages 4 and 5 of this week’s print edition for responses to your questions on:

  • Frequent water disruptions without notice
  • What the municipality is doing about potholes
  • Blocked storm water drains that cause the streets, and even some homes, to become flooded whenever it rains
  • The cutting of grass in areas were this service has not been rendered for years
  • Requests for meetings between the municipality and ratepayers being ignored
  • The increasing rate of crime
  • The constant burning at the dumpsite
