Service delivery concerns in Ward 17 are aired at a community meeting
They are surrounded by service delivery fails, which has dimmed the light of owning and living in your own home.
Despite several complaints to the local municipality, one homeowner says they are tired of being fed empty promises.
The main concerns centre on the poor state of the gravel road and the long grass that surrounds the residential area.
A homeowner who spoke on condition of anonymity said that she’s been living in Dovetree Road for eight years and service delivery has been almost non-existent.
“We complained about the road damage five years ago. In 2017 the municipality placed curb stones but this has not helped the state of the gravel road. We are not asking for tar, just repair the road,” said the resident.
She pointed out that roads in Colita and Pakuilsfontein have been repaired.
“So, what’s the reason that the municipality isn’t fixing our road? They expect us to pay rates in excess of R800 but we don’t get the service,” she added.
Residents have reportedly seen a snake emerge from the long grass in the area. Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was contacted for a response to the resident’s concerns almost two weeks ago; no response has been received yet.
