Drug deal intercepted by fast-acting task team

The suspects’ vehicle was pulled over at the R34 entrance to Newcastle.

A joint operations team intercepted two suspects, in possession of 1000 Mandrax tablets on April 13.

According to a reliable source, members of the team received a tip-off about drugs en route to Newcastle from Johannesburg, and set up an ambush.

The suspects’ vehicle was pulled over at the R34 entrance to Newcastle.

Mandrax tablets were found in the vehicle, with an estimated street value of R80 000, and the suspects were arrested.

Official investigations have since been launched.

Spokesman for SAPS Newcastle, Captain Jabulani Ncube confirmed one suspect was arrested, and appeared in court earlier this week.
