Desperate search for Nkosingiphile Mncunu (8) continues
Nquthu Police are appealing to the community to assist them in locating a missing child, Nkosingiphile Mncunu (8) from the Makhazo area in Nquthu. He was last in February wearing blue pants and a blue T-shirt and in the company of a man called Bomba.
After Nkosingiphile’s disappearance, a four-day search was embarked upon and Bomba, the suspect, was taken in for questioning. The community had assaulted Bomba as they suspected that he had kidnapped the little boy and removed his liver for ‘muthi’. During his 48-hours incarceration, he fell ill and was hospitalised. He was later released as there was no proof that he had kidnapped Nkosingiphile.
Three days after Bomba was released, he was found dead and his body had been burnt. Sergeant Hlela of the FCS Unit (Nquthu), who is handling the case said Bomba never provided police with details of the boy’s whereabouts.
“He just kept on telling us to go and look for the boy’s body in different places.

The community believe that he tortured the boy for his liver that is why they were aggrieved and assaulted him.” The Courier contacted the boy’s family and spoke with the grandmother, Sizeni Mncunu, who explained that the family are still traumatised by this and they know that someone out there knows something.”

She had appealed to the community to help them find Nkosingiphile. Nkosingiphile’s mother has since been suffering from depression and is not well.
Anyone with information is advised to call Sergeant Hlela on 034 299 7300.
