31 brave BBAC runners ready for the Comrades up run

BBC runners are ready for the Comrades Marathon.

Thirty-one Biggersberg Athletics Club athletes have qualified to run in this year’s Comrades Marathon.
This called for a motivational breakfast meeting on Saturday which started with a morning jog around Glencoe. Mayor Sduduzo Mdluli was also there to wish all the participants the best of luck for next Sunday’s up run from Durban to Pietermartizburg.
Guest speaker, Naresh Gopie, Tourism Dundee Chairman, recognised Lani van der Mescht, the Chairperson of the Biggersberg Athletic Club committee, for her splendid work over the years.
“We wish all the competitors success and we appreciate the effort everyone has put in. Go out there and represent Dundee,” said Naresh.
“This is very good publicity for our area and we appreciate all those who go the extra mile – as it were – to make sure our town is on the map.”
Lani congratulated all those who qualified and wished them all the best of luck.
“Bring us a medal but even if you don’t it’s okay.
“I am very proud of each and every one of you. I am so happy, break a leg,” said Lani.
