Tuck shop shooter nabbed by security guards
The man discharged his weapon, hitting a fridge.
An armed man, who discharged his gun in a tuck shop on Saturday, was arrested by swift-acting security guards.
Sipho Ngcobo of Qomfuka Security said two men went to the tuck shop, which is situated at the intersection of Birkett and Tatham Streets. They then threatened the owner, who is a foreign national.
One of the men was carrying a shotgun, and fired a shot that hit a fridge. Both the suspects fled the scene, but by then an alert had been sent out by the tuck shop owner. Qomfuka security guards responded to the call.
“One of the robbers was arrested soon afterwards. His accomplice evaded arrest, but a manhunt is continuing,” said Mr Ngcobo.
The shooting suspect was taken to the Dundee Police Station for questioning, and is expected to appear in court soon.
