Violent protests erupt on the R34
Motorists are advised to steer clear of the R34 as angry protestors demand service delivery.
Violent protest action on the R34 between Vryheid and Melmoth, near the Denny Dalton area has led to a warning being issued to motorists.
It was reported to Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch that two angry and destructive mobs, one on the northern side and one on the southern side, have taken to throwing stones and ripping at the doors of passing vehicles as they protest alleged poor service delivery.
The protest action reportedly began early this morning and flared up again after negotiations did not go well and protesters remained dissatisfied, subsequently responding by burning tyres and attacking passing vehicles.
Public Order Policing from Ulundi is believed to be on the way to the scene of the chaos to attempt to implement some control over the situation.
Motorists are advised to steer clear of the area.
