KZN Education Department targets 80% Matric pass rate

"In the remaining days leading up to the exams, we urge learners to spend time with their teachers so that they are equipped and furnished with valuable knowledge"

The KZN Education Department is targetting an 80% pass rate for this year’s Matric exams. due to start in just over two months.

“All schools are expected to complete their syllabi by August 31, after which they will be engaged in revision sessions to ensure that learners are fully prepared for their examinations,” said Kwazi Mthethw Media Liaison: Deputy Directo Office of the MEC For Education.

“After we have been able to continuously implement our Provincial Academic Improvement Plan we have set ourselves to achieve a minimum target of 80% in this year’s NSC performance.”

“As we will soon embark on the actual administration and writing of examinations, we will demonstrate that the system has matured over the years, and will continue to strive to improve and enhance the system’s credibility.

“In the remaining days leading up to the exams, we urge learners to spend time with their teachers so that they are equipped and furnished with valuable knowledge that will empower them to get ready to take on the upcoming examinations with confidence.

“The first day of the National Senior Certificate Examination is  October 18;  we, therefore, o urge students to work extremely hard with maximum concentration.”
