Nquthu gears up for first art exhibition
The event will be hosted at the open field opposite the Nquthu Plaza, where the public will enjoy live on-stage entertainment.
Excitement is growing for first official Nquthu Art Market and Exhibition to be held on Saturday.
Hosted by the nonprofit organisation, United Arts Africa, the expo will give artists an opportunity to unearth their creativity. Bongane Hopewell Motaung, Chairperson of United Arts Africa, said Northern KwaZulu-Natal artists’ greatest challenge was getting their art ‘out there’.
“Not only will the expo introduce them to the public, but it will be a chance to meet other artists, share experiences and exchange ideas. This is a most important gathering aiming to expose artists to the outside world, including all genres of music, dance, drama, filming, fashion, handicrafts and more,” said Mr Motaung. “We invite all artists to participate in building this legacy together, because we believe unity is the only way to success. There is magic in unity; it’s just a beginning and the continuity of this program lies on your participation as artists.”
The event will be hosted at the open field opposite the Nquthu Plaza, where the public will enjoy live on-stage entertainment including artists and bands, fashion shows and different traditional and modern performers. Local films and paintings will be showcased at the home of the late traditional healer, Sosobala Mbatha.
