On August 30, the two-day KwaZulu-Natal Christian School Sports Association (KZNCSSA) Athletics Championships began.
The event was hosted at the new world-class Msunduzi Athletics Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.
Ichthus Christian School, which sent athletes to competed in this event, thanked the learners, parents and staff for their attendance and performance.
“Congratulations to athletes for participating, receiving medals and qualifying for the KZNCSSA team.”
Ichthus results are as follows:
u-7: Izibusiso Phakathi – first in cricket ball throw.
u-9: Anébelle Myburgh – second in 60m, third in 80m, fifth in turbo javelin; Chris Mumpi – third in 80m and 600m, fourth in 60m; Izibongo Phakathi- fourth in turbo javelin; Khwezi Kheswa – fifth in turbo javelin.
u-10: Mayenzeke Mlaba – first in shot put; Masimbonge Mlaba – fourth in high jump; Bianca Erwee – fifth in high jump.
u-11: Emmanuella Cibyayi – first in long jump and 100m, second in 80m, third in 1 200m; Cailan de Lange – second in turbo javelin, third in shot put; Raphael Mazibuko – first in high jump.
u-12: Faith Mazibuko – first in discus, second in shot put; Lubanzi Mosia – fourth in discus; Thato Lebina – fourth in javelin.
u-13: Khwezi Molefe – third in javelin; Mvelo Lembede – fifth in discus.
u-14: Musawenkosi Ngcobo – second in javelin, fourth in 100m.
13 of these learners have achieved the minimum qualifying standard and thus made it through to the South African Christian School’s Sports Association event, which takes place on September 20 and 21 in Sasolburg.
“Congratulations also to Emmanuella Cibyayi (Grade 4), who was the fourth best Junior Girl with a total of 2 598 ASA points.”
