No arrests have yet been made after three people tragically lost their lives in a shooting in Ezakheni on September 3.
Gunshots were heard by nearby residents as merciless killers ambushed a taxi that was transporting passengers. Five passengers were in the Toyota Hilux that was travelling from Colenso to Ezakheni.
It is alleged that, at the speed humps on the corner of Isinkwe and Rholihlahla Road, unknown occupants in a BMW followed the taxi and opened fire on it with rifles.
The rifles used were R5s and AK-47s. Empty cartridges were found at the scene.
The 47-year-old driver and two passengers were killed. Two terrified passengers managed to get out of the vehicle and run away. They were later taken to hospital by paramedics who arrived at the scene.
Police, forensic personnel and other emergency officials were also on scene.
All three deceased suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating a case of murder.
